Dear Extended Oasis Family,

 

 "The BIG 3"! Since we all like lists - and the shorter the better - I picked 3 things this week I wanted to make you aware of. There is also a 4th bonus one in the P.S.!

 

"I Love THE Church". I had the chance to bring the opening message of this series in all services last weekend. I am still pumped by the response and the expectation of this weekend’s message on "I Love THE Church in UNITY". Do not miss it. I think this is going to be another inspiring and life-changing message for many.  If you missed the opening message last weekend, it is right here on our Oasis website.

 

"Movie Night" is TONIGHT at our Pembroke Pines campus sponsored by our ONE Student Ministry! I hope you will come out and support our teens as they raise funds to help them get to camp this summer. One of the most important weeks in a teenagers life is youth camp. I have seen hundreds of lives changed during the week they spend at camp. Tickets are only a $5.00 donation. Even if you can't make it, get a ticket or two from a student you know. This will be the BEST investment you have made in a long time. Instead of giving Starbucks your $5.00 for a latte, give it to one of our “ONE Students“. They are going to be world changers in this generation. Movie Night will feature the film BIG HERO 6 and starts at 7pm in the auditorium. GO ONE STUDENTS! 

 

"His Caring Hands" a local homeless feeding ministry to Broward county is having their annual ministry dinner where they raise funds to underwrite this incredibly biblical ministry. This ministry was started 5 years ago by the Holly family in our church. Through their family kitchen each week, they feed several hundred homeless and share God’s love with them. I really don’t know if there is a more important ministry closer to the heart of Jesus. This is truly loving the least of these in our society. You can donate $50 for a ticket to the dinner for Saturday, April 4th at 5 PM. The dinner is held at the Gateland Village Community Clubhouse in Hollywood | 3777 N.W. 78th Avenue. Reservations can be made by calling 954-674-8046 or tickets may be purchased at the door.

 

Your missions giving has been a big part of keeping this ministry alive. We give a monthly gift as a church. You can also continue to help on the third weekend of each month. We will donate to this worthy ministry all the loose $1.00 bills in the offering basket. Every $1.00 feeds a hungry person in Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood.

Dear Extended Oasis Family,

 

 

For South Florida Basketball Fans this is the best time of the year. For the third season in a row our Miami Heat are in the Championship Series. I personally can't wait until the tip off tonight! I love this time of year. Sooooooo wondering if Justin Beiber will show up on the front row this weekend with his thug hat and Bling on like he did at the last Heat game! Never know he just might girls! ;;))

 

For all our HEAT FANS - let’s all wear our colors this weekend. It doesn't happen too many times in a lifetime so let’s enjoy it. The rest of you who aren't Heat fans just ignore us and for other fans just envy us this weekend as we celebrate a great local team. Just for the record, the last time the Dolphins were in a championship of this magnitude was in the early '80s so this shows you how hard it is and special to have your team in the championships.

 

This weekend we conclude our "Fight for Love" series. It has been powerful and it has been evident with all the buzz created. I think back to our first message of the series when we offered the "Ignite" series, about the book Song of Solomon on CD and our tech team ran out of the first 25 sets they produced and had to work every service to make new ones. I believe they gave out over 50 sets and copied over 200 CD's that weekend. That has never happened in one weekend. If you missed your CD set you can pick one up this weekend at the "ONE " Cafe or in NoMi at the Connect Center for a donation. We will also have all the CD's of this series available at both places this weekend. Just for a heads up we ALWAYS have our CD of the service in our "ONE Cafe" and at the "Connect Center" in NoMi following each service. You can pick one up for you or a friend to share. You can also go online each week and watch the podcast of that weekend’s message for FREE and share it with a friend.

 

This weekend we will conclude the series with what I believe might be the most powerful message we have ever done on marriage. It will hit home to many who have constantly struggled with a balance in this area and even some ideas of how to make it work. DON'T MISS this weekend. Watch this short video giving you a sneak peek of this weekend (or click below). I think you will definitely want to invite a friend or family to this one. JUST DO IT!

 

 

 

Next weekend we begin our series to kick off the summer. "Chill" ... Life is Good. This is going to be the most upbeat, positive series you have heard in a long time. Just in time for summer and enjoying the sum-sum-summer time! I am finishing up the last message of the series today and I wish I could bring it this weekend but, hey, too many other good things first. Don't miss this series. Some of us just need to "Chill" this summer.

 

Family Movie Night at both campuses is Friday, June 14. At Pines it will be outside "Under the Stars" at 8 p.m. At NoMi it will be at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Don't miss it! We'll have popcorn and juice for the kids, bring a blanket and chair! We're showing "Despicable Me"!

 

That’s all for now! I got my RED HOT HEAT Championship Shirt and I'm ready to proudly wear it this WEEKEND! Let me see all my Heat Fans this weekend!!! Pastors Weekly Email for September 13, 2012 Pain Everyone has some!

Dear Extended Oasis Family,   Pain! I've heard it said, "No Pain, No Gain". I hate the person who said that! But it's true in getting into physical shape no doubt. If you have ever tried to get in shape or stay in shape, lose weight and maintain it then you know there is a lot of pain involved. I must admit when there is a sure end in sight and you can see direct results, it's easier to take the pain. But when it's in everyday life, it is not so easy. (If you missed my message on Biblical Message last weekend you need to watch it here. I dove headfirst into the Gay Marriage issue and answered the questions people are asking. Check it out here, share it with a friend or family that need to hear.)   Most of us are either coming through a painful family experience, heading into one or headed out of one. It's part of the rhythm of life. It's just a matter of life since sin entered the world in the Garden. You heard my story of the painful past, living with an alcoholic father. (If you missed that video of my story you can watch it NOW right here.) But this week as we continue in our series about the "Modern Family", we will look at another family's pain. One of our own families. This weekend you will hear from our Technical Director, Joel Collins' father and brother, Chip and Nathan Collins. As a family they have dealt with the subject of homosexuality and they will be sharing their stories of life change. So you can get to them better, here's some info about them:   In over 30 years of ministry, C.F. (Chip) Collins has ministered in churches and college campuses in America as well as on the mission fields of South America and the Caribbean. He has served as pastor, youth pastor, worship leader, missionary, professor, and administrator. He is currently serving as Senior Pastor of Grace Heritage Church in Leitchfield, KY, as well as assisting Grace and Truth Resources, a ministry founded by his oldest son, Nathan, to equip churches for post-homosexual ministry. Married for 35 years to his wonderful wife, Suzie, they have three grown sons (Nathan, Joel, and David) — all of whom are married and serving with their wives in local church ministries. He is also blessed with six amazing grandchildren, with another on the way! Nathan grew up as the son of missionaries in the little country of Suriname, So. America. He received his bachelor's degree from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL, his Masters in Divinity from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and is about halfway through the New Testament PhD program at Southern. He met his wife, Sara, during their first year at Moody, and they were married just over eight years ago. God has blessed them with two wonderful, and very active, little boys. During the past six years, Nate has openly shared in various church settings the story of his battle against same-sex attraction. About a year ago, Nate and his wife began to sense the Lord leading them to explore the possibility of being more involved in a ministry that focused specifically on the issue of homosexuality. Today, Nate is the executive director of Grace and Truth Resources, which is a ministry whose sole purpose is to provide churches with resources that will help them be a compelling witness for Christ to people impacted by same-sex attraction.   "Discover Oasis" this Sunday after the noon service. Pastor's Weekly Email for April 26, 2012.... Porn and Pancakes

 

Dear Extended Oasis Family;  "Porn and Pancakes", Ok so the title is a little weird and yes we have had all kinds of questions on this and even some criticism about using the word Porn! Really! What word would you use? The important thing is not the wording or the opinion of whether Porn and Pancakes go together but the important thing is that ALL our Men of this church not only need to understand the damage it is doing to our Families but how can we help others. My fear has been all along that when we announced this that Men would be afraid to come because they would think they are branded that "oh, he must have a problem with it". Actually we ALL have a problem with "Porn" (not pancakes although I only like mine with blueberry syrup, so I better have some Saturday Morning.) We don't have to be addicted or even be involved in it to have a problem. Our children could get caught up in it without us even knowing it. Other family members and friends might be struggling. We need to know how to help them. We need to help stem the flow of this. I can tell you stories where the addiction was so great it has taken lives and broken families and men have lost their jobs over it.  Did you know that the largest consumer of Pornography online is done by 12-17 year olds?! Yes, we all need to deal with this. If you are a Man and you aren't planning to come to this Breakfast from 9-11 a.m. this Saturday then I am going to challenge you by saying it's time to "Man Up". What are you afraid of? I mean if you aren't coming is it because you do have something to hide? That is the case many times when someone avoids straight talk on an issue. GUYS GO ONLINE NOW AND BUY THAT TICKET. THE COST IS TO COVER OUR SPEAKER AND THE FOOD. BEST INVESTMENT YOU MIGHT EVER MAKE. Ok, Ladies, I'm addressing you now. You aren't invited this Saturday but you can help. If your Man in your life is not coming it's time for you to sit down and ask him why? I think it's a good chance he is struggling and he needs to come even more! If he gives you some excuse, even if its a great one, call his bluff. It's probably a smoke screen. I have decided in this series Man Up that I'm calling men out. If men don't like it, then tough. They need to Man Up. Last week and this week are calls for Christian Men to stand Up and Man Up.Ladies go online now and Buy a Ticket for him and give it to him and tell him you're doing his chores and the lawn this Saturday and you will do whatever he wants this Saturday if he will go. This is BIG! I PROMISED YOU 3 MORE THINGS, THEY ARE BIG TOO! DON'T MISS THEM: * Ladies Night Out - The ladies are having a movie night in our auditorium this coming Friday night. Childcare is available. Cost is $5. * Helping Handbags for Haiti! We've got lots of donated designer purses that we will presale at the movie night Friday night and then the big sale will be Saturday morning, April 28 at 9 a.m. I think this is one of the best ideas I've heard in a long time. Ladies can take all that money someone invested, get a great handbag at a cheap price and ALL the proceeds will go toward our Haiti Orphanage we are partnering with and will be buying their beds and furniture next month for our trip to Haiti that many of us are taking. The kids are sleeping on the floor right now and eating with no table or chairs. Let's buy those purses Ladies. BTW, this idea came from a 5 year old of one of our Oasis families. I'll share that story another time.. * Chick Fil-A Leadercast is Friday, May 4 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Cost is $75. Sign up online! This is a great way to invite your work associates who really want to take their leadership or business to the next level. This is a great opportunity Oasis has to host this for men and women in our business community. I hope you will get your tickets this week after each service at the info booth in the lobby or online. Israel Trip 2011 Pictures

After returning from one of the most moving experiences in my lifetime, the one thing that is always a chore and hard to do is get pictures up. In our world today with Twitter and Facebook the need to get pictures printed and shown is almost obsolete. I am glad we were able to post pictures almost immediately as they were taken. You could actually experience Israel and all that we experienced as we actually did. That made the experience even better for me, because I could share it with my friends and family who were not with us.

Below Ill share a few pictures. Once our Son Corey begins to post his pictures Ill share more. As a professional photographer, Coreys make mine pretty sad so I wont post many now. Cant wait to share his  . He can literally make a picture live and make you feel like your there. Im so happy not only as our son he could travel with our group but also as our photographer. Im so proud of him as he uses his many gifts God has given him. 

26 went on the trip. I couldnt help but think of the 4 (2 couples) who could not go and had to cancel at the last moment due to health and other issues. But I know they  will go with us next time. I prayed for them while we were there knowing it was hard on them not being able to be with us. The group was incredible. They were just awesome to travel with . They also cried alot. I think some of them actually cried more than I did. And several were men. Real men.  Ok, enough of the trip talk. Let me share some pics from our last 10 days.

 Our time in the Garden of Gethsemane was beyond words. Praying where Jesus prayed with His disciples right before He was betrayed and taken into custody. After a very emotional prayer time/service, we ran into the Chilean Miners. We had lots of pics taken , but the best are yet to come.

The Western Wall or what many call the Wailing wall. This is a sacred place and the only remaining walls from Solomons Temple destroyed in 70A.D. The Jews are waiting to build the new one here someday.

 The View of Jerusalem coming from the west bank and the Jordan Valley. This is the view of the Eastern Wall that is shut and wont be opened until the Messiah comes back. This is where the Mt.Olives is just below and also the Garden of Gethsemane. Emotional time standing here.

 Israeli soilders. These kids are some of the best trained soilders in the entire world. Amazing young people. All Israelis serve when they turn 18 and before they go to College. Girls too! We felt totally safe while there.

Dear Extended Oasis Family, Hello from Israel! We are having an incredible time here and I have given an update on Video below. On the video I took on the Sea of Galilee today, I not only share some of what we have experienced but also an update of  the Rocket attack on one of the cities here in Israel last night.  (You will note how low the water is at the edge of the Sea of Galilee. This is a serious problem here since it's the only fresh water source in the entire nation. It is down 30 feet from its normal level). We have taken lots of pictures here. Pastors weekly Oasis Church Update............... September 19, 2010

To our Extended Oasis Family, below you will find our weekly update email. I hope your having a great September and looking forward to Fall as we are in South Florida, albeit a little different than most places in the world. If your links dont work, you can go to our visitoasis.org page or my blog post on other pages, and probably get to where you need to go. Sometimes the format I paste and clip the email from doesnt work for all computers. It also cuts a few words off for some. Sorry about that. Getting it to you is more important than a few little details;)  This update might have more information and announcements about new ministries beginning than anytime in our 19 year history. Dear Extended Oasis Family; Nineteen years ago this Sunday, Oasis Church began. On September 15, 1991 my family and nine other adults began a journey that has been incredible. This new baby church started on the Pines campus in the little Trailer building there today which houses most of our offices. I will never forget the excitement and the "Fear" I felt that day when we stood in an unpaved rock parking lot, next to a trailer not finished and no electricity, next to a tent waiting to see if anyone would show up. They did and for 19 years God has added to the church not only here on the corner of Flamingo and 14 Street but also in Downtown Hollywood and North Miami. Soon He will take the Oasis Mission to "Be and Make Disciples" literally around the world through our new Internet Campus, located in South Florida. It officially launches live on Sunday morning, October 31. Much more to come. I will forever be indebted to the First Baptist Church of West Hollywood, their pastor Bud McCord and the First Baptist Church of Ojus and their late pastor Jim Washer for the support and belief in me and our vision to reach Pembroke Pines. Now that vision is in two counties, multiple locations, 14 services and soon to be around the world. God has been good. This year we will not celebrate much since we have so much we are launching even as I type this week. Next year on our 20th Anniversary, we will blow it out.  (For those who are new, you can check out the blog post I did last year with all our history from day one).   Speaking of all that is happening, if you attended any service at any campus this past weekend, you were probably overwhelmed with all that is about to "Kick Off" around Oasis this fall. Someone said it was like drinking out of a Fire Hydrant! LOL. Soooooo, I decided we would devote the rest of this weekly newsletter to breaking down all the new things happening around Oasis so you will be able to digest it a little more. We'll also include the videos that correspond with each announcement! You really don't want to miss this fall, beginning with today. Please check it all out: We are in the process of redesigning our web site. It will have a new and fresh look, be easier to navigate and we are amping up our Facebook page BIG TIME. Good news: You don’t have to be a member of Facebook to see our page…but why not join Facebook and be part of the community there? It’s free and you can be as involved as you want to be. You will see updates from us, insider information, videos, pictures and more! Plus you’ll get to connect with other Oasis attenders! Join today and Like our page! Our Internet Campus will be kicking off on Sunday, October 31! We also announced that John Adams, who has served faithfully at our Hollywood Campus and has served in countless other ways, will now be assuming the role of Internet Campus Pastor. You can read more about John here. Christmas at the Oasis 2010 will be bigger and better than ever! Christmas is back and we are ready to once again serve our community with our free Christmas light display and drive-thru. This year, though, we are adding some things. Our Creche (Nativity) Display, under the direction of Debby Brown, will be attempting to break the Guiness World Book of Records for the highest number of Creche Displays in one place! Currently the record is 1,802. We believe we can beat it, but we need YOUR help. We need all of our Oasis members and attenders to commit to donating your creche displays for just 2 weeks at the beginning of December. Together we can beat the record! We will also be adding a Christmas Village which includes an ice skating rink! The Village will also house some other surpises. We will also have several photo opportunities around the campus with a professional photographer to help make memories with your family. 7 Nights of Worship (7NOW) is changing its name to Oasis After Hours! With the name change come other changes to some of the nights. Monday night – COME HUNGRY – In-depth Bible studies on various topics with one of our Pastors. Tuesday night – COME THIRSTY – Bible studies for those who want to explore the basics of the Christian faith. Wednesday night – WEEKEND ON WEDNESDAY – Our midweek service with live worship and message from the previous Sunday. Thursday night – COLLIDE – Collide is a young adults ministry that targets singles, students and families ages 18-30. We are a collision of Worship, Community and Mission. (Any age is welcome, though our focus is young adults). Friday night – SURGE – We are Students Under a Real God Experience. We come together to know more about God, enrich our walk with a personal Savior and connect with other teens just like you! (Adult message and worship also available). Saturday and Sunday nights – NEW TIMES – Saturday and Sunday evenings will now begin at 6 p.m. and they are both LIVE services. Childcare is available up to 5th grade for all evening services except Sunday evening (only available thru 5 years of age). We announced another new staff member, Garfield Lowe. Garfield has been attending and serving our church for many years at our Hollywood Campus and now he will be serving at Pines as part of our Pastoral team. He will be working in many different areas including Christmas at the Oasis, Oasis After Hours and more. Welcome Garfield! You can read more about Garfield here. Well that is it for this week. Viral, Starting an Epidemic

This weekend we begin a short mini series of two Messages. The Series is Viral and will prepare us as a church for Easter the following week. I am really excited about this weekend since we are debuting a Utube video seen by over 700 million people. It ties into our message and we have a surprise or two. Come prepared to be challenged and to being infected by the "Epidemic".  A few of the opening thoughts are below:

For some of us when we think of the word “Viral” the swine flew or H1N1 comes to mind. A sort of bacterial infection that spread and infects causing an epidemic.

"For some the first thing to come to mind is the 21^st century term: “A video, image or text spread by "word of mouth" on the internet or by e-mail for humorous, political or marketing purposes.” Viral is a word used to explain the ebb and flow of the fashion industry, the rise in teen smoking, unknown books into best-sellers, candid videos into pulp culture icons on You-tube"
