We kicked off our Storm Proof series this weekend by discussing the prodigal. You are receiving this email because you indicated on your Connect Card that you have a prodigal in your life, whether it is you or a close loved one.
You are NOT alone.
As promised, we are sending you the book mentioned by Pastor Guy in his sermon this weekend as well as a list of truths to remember when dealing with your prodigal. Our Oasis Team will be praying for you and your prodigal loved one.
Recommended book: “Reaching Your Prodigal” by Phil Waldrep.
Below, please find a list of powerful truths to remember from this book:
God values you and your prodigal. He desires a change in their hearts as much as you do!
Having a loving heart opens the door for change but a condemning spirit will lock it shut.
Your response to your prodigal often determines his/her response to you. Change then, begins with you.
Your prodigal is responsible for his actions, you are not. Stop feeling guilty or you will be powerless to help.
Honest conversations without excuses can remove barriers in your relationship.
The greatest need your prodigal has is love without conditions.
If family members help prodigals avoid the consequences of their actions, they will remain prodigals. Love requires you let your prodigal accept responsibility.
Words impact your prodigal so choose them carefully.
Ask God to give your prodigal godly friends and to use anything necessary to get your prodigal's attention.
Hope is your greatest motivation and encouragement. Never lose it!
We hope that these resources will help you on the path to healing and a true relationship with Christ for your prodigal.
God bless you and your family.
Sincerely,
Oasis Church Family
