5k Haitian Relief Walk/Run October 30, 8 a.m.

 
The 5k, is really alot more to me than us raising a little bit of money. It makes a statement about our heart for those who are hurting, and its really just the beginning of what I believe is a drop in the bucket of what God is calling Oasis to do. 

 

Let me tell you just two stories that have come in the last two days. 

 

* A single mom in my community group had a bum ankle from her dance excercise when our group first discussed doing it as a group 5 weeks ago. She wasnt going to do it. I encouraged her to sign up, pray and then leave it to God. In a week, her ankle was better, she was excited and came and told me. She then said but I have no friends or families who would ever give any money to me for this. I encouraged her to try it anyway and then pray. Well two days ago, we got a check in our office mail for $400. , and guess who it was for? Yep, this single mom. Her donation sight also has about $100. so she is like second in total donations so far. Tell me that doesnt get your excited!!!!

* This morning I got an email from Paula. Yesterday she had told me she and Bella had already had $200. pledged to their walk. This morning her Email said this and ill let it be in her own words, with her permission:

 "I am so very Happy to tell you this amazing news!! I sent this letter to my dad. He called and said that the church that he works with has been raising money since last year for Haiti. They have been waiting to send it to a trust worthy mission. When they received this email from me they decided to right the check out to Oasis Church!!
So they are mailing me $110 check for our Haiti mission, this is a huge check considering the size of the church (about 75members) and the economics of the household income. I am thrilled to say that Bella and I have now raised 300 and still working. We have upped our goal to 500 dollars!! We are so excited for this 5k!"
