Below is this weeks Oasis Pastors Email sent out to our local Oasis Family. There is a lot going on right now that our Extended Oasis Family might be interested in some of the things we are sharing and updating our church family about. As I normally say, this was done in an email format and does not always fit all blogs and also does not always link the sites on the email. Sorry if it doesnt work for you in clicking on links. Please be praying for the next few weeks which are crucial in our ministy here in South Florida.
Dear Guy,
"People ruin their lives by their own stupidity." Yep, can you believe that is a phrase out of the Bible?! You thought I was the one calling someone stupid. Now I would never do that! Well, anyway... I am taking a break from some intense time in Proverbs for our "Street Smarts" series in Proverbs that kicks off on Easter Weekend. I needed a break, but it's always hard because then I have to spend time trying to get back into it, but I needed to share with you some important info before the end of the day. Sooooo... Where did the stupidity thing come in? Well, during my study for an entirely different subject for Message #3 in April of "Streets Smarts", I ran across this verse in Proverbs 19:3 (The Message) and just kind of chuckled. It's so true. So many times we (I) make such stupid mistakes and then I blame it on God...so why does God always get blamed? That is the second part of the verse!!! Why, not the devil, why not myself? Well, the good news is the series that begins Easter Weekend is going to give us some great advice from Proverbs. We are calling it having "Street Smarts", Proverbs calls it wisdom. How do we make decisions with wisdom, street smarts!! I'm dying to share more, but we have a couple weeks left before it begins and lots of other things to talk about. You can at least get a sneak peek at the series overview on our visitoasis.org website.
SOS! Tonight and Friday night is the last chance you have to bring your supplies for Haiti Relief. The semi-trailer is almost packed, and it will leave on Saturday to be off and readied to send to Haiti. Tonight before or after our 7NOW Service, or tomorrow night. Even if you're not attending tonight's and Friday Service you can bring the items. Remember only the items on the list supplied. Water was left off the list but you can bring Bottled Water also. See my blog post for more info on this and how you can take a mission relief trip to Haiti.
Viral, "Start an Epidemic", yes, Epidemic. You and I need to be infected and contagious!! We will be discussing how and why we should be this weekend and next weekend leading up to Easter. (also at our 7NOW services). These two messages might just be the most important we've ever shared preparing our church for Easter at the Oasis. Please make sure you're here this weekend or next week during 7NOW. In case you're really curious and just have to have a sneak preview of this weekend's message and theme, I shared some on my blog yesterday. There are a few surprise elements that I think will leave you talking. Come prepared.
Easter is almost here. Easter at the Oasis is always special and this year it will be no exception. Several things that really excite me this year on Easter is:
- We kick off what will be one of the best series ever! Street Smarts!!! A look at Proverbs. This will be a Message series for sure to bring your family and friends to that don't attend church. They will be blown away at how practical and positive the Bible is and how we can all be Wise and Blessed!!! Can't wait!!
- A brand new church will be kicked off on Easter Eve, Saturday, April 3 in Miami. The new church will be a new type of church. One that will be different than any most of us have ever seen. Our own North Miami Campus Pastor Jack Hakimian will be the pastor. (He will continue as NoMi Campus Pastor while Pastoring this new Mission Church) If you're interested in attending the kick-off service where Jack gives a preview and challenge on Easter Weekend then check out the info at the website for Oasis Miami, which is a separate ministry established to share Jesus with Miami in refreshing and new ways and venues. Last week Jack shared his burden for Miami and starting new churches at our Pines campus. If you missed the message you can check it out on our Website Podcast.
- Multiple times, days and campuses to attend Easter. 10 Different services this year will make it as convenient as it can get to celebrate Christ's Resurrection. As you know, our Pines Campus is just not big enough to hold all our folks on a normal Sunday. That's whey we have multiple campuses and 7 Nights of Worship. Easter for sure will draw hundreds of new guests. We are asking all our folks who attend our 10:30 and Noon service at Pines to please attend another service that week, either at another time, night, or campus. This will allow hundreds who will only attend at those times as guests. We want our guests to find their worship experience refreshing and many might find Christ, but they need parking places and seats. Will you give up yours that day, 10:30 and Noon attenders?
That's about it for this week. Just a few more things I want to challenge you to check out:
- I want to thank all of you who have been bringing the Lord's Tithes and offerings as your part of worship. God has supplied our needs in a very difficult time. If you have not given this week, or need to catch up, you can give right now online. It's safe and secure through our site, and very quick. It takes me less than two minutes when I give online. If you haven't tried it, it's quick and easy to sign up. Maybe 5 minutes total to sign up to give online. (You can also give towards the 1-10 offering for our new Church Mission starting at Easter and the new Internet Campus starting later in the year).
- Check out this cool 7NOW, (7 Nights of Worship) update...
- A Practice not Practiced very often on my Blog.
- Oh, man, I have to stop now, I hate to. I love sharing all the great things God is doing but got to get back to work, and oh, yeah, I missed lunch, going to get some comfort food!
- Love you guys.......See you this weekend.
P.S. Oh, yes...one more thing. For those who haven't been Baptized after becoming a follower of Christ, we will be Baptizing at our Pines Campus at ALL Easter Week and Weekend Services. How cool to be Baptized and to follow the Lord on the Holiest week of the Christian Calendar? You can go online and sign up or write it on your card. Ok, I'm really finished. out of here...
