Dear Extended Oasis Family and Friends,
What’s in your Wallet? Sound familiar? If you are like me, most of the time you might answer “there’s NOTHING in my wallet!” Seems like as soon as I put cash in my wallet - I find something or someone finds something for me to spend it on. Right?
This month, we will be looking at biblical finance the way God wants us to manage His money. Yes, we are His asset managers. Our teaching team will be sharing principles of finance based on God’s word. By the way, the most successful businesses and organizations follow these universal principles. It’s going to be a great week! I hope you will join us to see what “my money says" because "Money Talks".
A new Oasis’er recently asked if Oasis Church does missions? My first response was to laugh and say, “Do we do missions? Do we do Missions?! You betcha!”
One of our three Oasis values comes directly out of our mission statement, “to be and to make disciples”. Missions is part of who we are at Oasis Church. Actually you can’t worship or live in community without missions being a natural byproduct.
However, I know what they meant by the question…“do we have mission projects and programs?” We do! Many times we are guilty of not communicating them very well and we want to do better. Let me just give you a little short view, promise it will be a short view of some outreach opportunities we are doing this summer and fall.
*Homeless Ministry: Weekly - through His Caring Hands started by one of our Oasis families. You can contact them for more information. You will also see where Oasis helps support them monthly on the 3rd weekend at all services. All loose $1.00 bills in the offering plate will go to this ministry. You can also volunteer to be a part of this weekly ministry.
*Hope Women’s Ministry: Weekly - is another ministry our Oasis family is involved in. One of our long time Oasis members, Essie Napier, is one of the directors. Each 2nd weekend of the month we donate all loose $1.00 bills to this powerful women's ministry. You can also volunteer to serve in this local ministry. Contact them here for more information.
*Hope for South Florida is a homeless and transitional ministry we support. Oasis Church sponsors a week each year where we bring homeless families into our Pembroke Pines campus and Oasis'ers volunteer to help. For more information go to their website here. Hope for South Florida also welcomes volunteers. Many of our Women’s ministry ladies volunteer and do projects with Hope for South Florida.
*North Miami Missions: Our North Miami campus feeds the homeless two weekends every month. You can contact Pastor Jonathan for more information of how you can be involved with this ministry - even if you attend Pembroke Pines campus.
*Our Community Groups and various ministries also do quarterly mission outreaches in a variety of places in our South Florida community. Join one of our community groups and ministries and serve. Nothing beats serving another person to be the hands and feet of Jesus with NO strings attached.
*Oasis is also starting a once-a-month Saturday Missions outreach. Watch for more information in the weeks ahead on this Community Missions outreach.
* This Months Missions Emphasis is our Kids World: Parents and Kids this is a great way to get started serving others.
* Annnnddd Drum Rolllll, this is the first place you will hear about this exciting outreach opportunity. We are going back to Detroit for a Summer Missions trip - August 13-16th. You will hear more very soon on the details of how to sign up. We are partnering up with our inner city partner Pastor Daryl Gaddy and Victory Fellowship. As well as with other inner city churches and pastors. There will be a number of ways to get involved. Tiaras Girls ministry will have a BIG Tiaras Ball that weekend and Legacy Ministries, led by Ricky and Lily Garcia, will lead a pastors Leadership Seminar. We will do neighborhood ministry and for those who want to get their hands dirty - there will be hands-on clean up and remodel, painting, and other things at the church and their new ministry center the city of Detroit sold them for $100. This is an exciting opportunity! I hope a lot of you - whether a student or adult - will jump on board with this missions opportunity.
There will be more missions opportunities coming up but that is all I can get you to read for this weeks newsletter.
I love you guys and can’t wait to see you this weekend as we talk about "Money Talks”….what does yours say?
Guy Melton
Senior Pastor
Oasis Church
P.S. Obviously, all these mission ministries of outreach and all the in-house ministries take money to operate. It’s only through your giving of the Lord’s tithes and your offerings that we can continue to expand the Kingdom outreach through Oasis Church. You can even go online now or 24/7 and give to the Lord through Oasis Church.
